2022 Celebrations
130 years of First Aid and a century of emergency ambulance
2022 was a big year for St John: we celebrated 130 years since delivering our inaugural First Aid course, and marking a century of being the State’s emergency ambulance service.
For generations, our people have been on the front line supporting Western Australians often in their darkest days. From humble beginnings, we now have more than 40,000 people dedicated to making Western Australian communities what we call St John Strong.
Reflecting on our past
We celebrated throughout the year and reflected on our history. Follow us on social media to see our First Aid mythbusting series, listen to our history first-hand from our people, and check out how far we have come from our first early days.
Reimagining our future
Over the past century, we’ve grown across the State to have more than 190 emergency ambulance response locations across what is the biggest ambulance jurisdiction in the world – 2.5 million square km or one third of the Australian mass.
And we’ve expanded our services: Our footprint extends to first aid training centres, general practice, dental and urgent care centres.
