22300VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis

Modified delivery method to comply with COVID-19 restrictions. You must arrive 15 minutes prior to class start time for screening and hygiene procedures.

A nationally accredited anaphylaxis course that addresses the provision of care to adults and children who are diagnosed as being at risk of anaphylaxis or displaying signs or symptoms of anaphylaxis.

Prior to attending the course, participants are sent a link to complete mandatory online learning and assessment at their own pace, which includes a language literacy and numeracy quiz with 5 questions, reading the Participant Information and answering 41 quiz questions about Anaphylaxis. This must be completed prior to attending the practical session unless there are extenuating circumstances. In this situation the participant must advise the Trainer and Assessor on arrival to the practical session.

The practical session includes 1.5 hours of demonstration, practise and assessment of skills including the confirmation of knowledge gained in the online learning. Participants must respond to an anaphylactic emergency, develop an anaphylaxis communication plan and individual management plan.

On successful completion of all assessments participants will receive a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment.

Participants who may require additional support to complete this course are encouraged to call the Contact Centre to discuss available options.


This course has a minimum entry requirement. As a participant, you must have Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) competencies equivalent to the Australian Core Skills Framework Level 2. Participants must complete the LLN assessment quiz with 5 questions (located within the first module of this course) to ensure they can complete 22300VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis and to establish if further support services are required.

In addition, it is recommended that entrants have current competency in HLTAID001 Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Course Pre-Requisite

The 22300VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis comprises of two (2) Units of Competency:

  • VU21800 Provide first aid management of anaphylaxis; and

  • VU21801 Develop risk minimisation and risk management strategies for anaphylaxis.

Competency in VU21800 Provide first aid management of anaphylaxis must be achieved before completing VU21801 Develop risk minimisation and risk management strategies for anaphylaxis.

The course has been designed to address this pre-requisite requirement in its delivery.
